Our thirupati visit

We'd planning to goto Thirupathi for over a year and it finally happened last month. When I was browsing for information on Thirupathi visit, I hit the TTD (Thirumala Thirupathi Devasthanam) website and learnt that you can actually oook sevas online, make accomodation booking online too.

I made online reservation for Kalyana utsavam for Apr 29, 2008. We reached Thirupathi on the 28th Apr to make sure we are not late for the seva. Also for online bookings, you have to take a printout of the online booking confirmation and exchange it to the actual seva ticket.

On 29th, we assembled at the Vaikuntam complex at 9:30am. The kalyana utsavam was at 12:00 and by the time we completed the darshan and reached our hotel/hostel, it was around 2:30pm. But for the mad rush to go into one of the gated waiting area (aka boxes) and also at the main entrance for the darshan, the crowd was tolerable.

We came down to govindaraja perumal temple, and then onto Alamelumanga puram (thiruchanoor) but couldnt not have darshan at thiruchanoor and they have a break time (for volunteers regulating the crowd/line) from 6pm to 7pm. Since we had to return to chennai on the same day, we skipped the darshan and left for chennai.

Few points to note..In all the temples (thirumala, govinda raja perumal, thiruchanoor) no electronic items (including cell phones) are allowed inside the temple. There is a counter outside where you can deposit these and collect it when leaving..So avoid carrying it with you unless you want to wait in another line to deposit them and collect them back.
